Thomas D. Cochran
Mr. Cochran specializes in civil litigation. He has extensive experience in commercial litigation which includes representation of financial institutions and their subsidiaries, class-action defense and construction-related matters, including:

  • Representation of various financial institutions for thirty years in the areas of construction and development loans, commercial transactions, fraud claims, recoveries and workouts.
  • The successful defense of a major manufacturer in a series of class-action matters.
  • Representation of contractors and other construction industry clients including owners and design teams in disputes arising from development, construction and use of various facilities.
  • Drafting of contracts for owners, contractors, general contractors, subcontractors, sureties, designers, suppliers, architects, and engineers in virtually all types of construction matters and on a large variety of private or public projects.
  • Handling of a wide range of construction disputes in state and federal courts as well as for the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), and private arbitrations and mediations.
  • Litigation matters including bid protests, contractor and designer claims for extras, declaratory judgment actions, mechanics' liens and disputes with bonding companies over completion of projects.
  • From the initial planning stages of a project throughout construction, Mr. Cochran and the construction group can provide ongoing legal advice and counsel clients about concerns or disputes.
  • With his engineering degree, Mr. Cochran can thoroughly investigate and evaluate each claim and understands applicable legal and industry principles.
  • Mr. Cochran is skilled and experienced in all phases of negotiation, trial preparation and presentation, and, when necessary, appellate work.
